My Content Was Held Hostage
I was using an all-in-one website company that I used to design my website and I built a 22 person email list & created courses with it. I paid $149 a month & never made a profit off the website.
Then, I moved down to $30 a month to "Park the website". I, previously, was able to access my content.
I recently decided to stop using the company all together so I went into my account and they wouldn't let me access my content.
They said that I'd have to pay $149 to access my courses & content to download. They said they can't give me "complimentary" access to my content.
So, I emailed them and tried to appeal to their empathy. But, it didn't work.
I gave them $149 a month for several years. I didn't make a profit using their platform at all. I pointed that out.
But, they wanted an additional $149 for me to access my account and download my content. For my 22-person email list and some courses I wasn't even using, they wanted $149 just to let me download my own work.
So, I just cancelled my account altogether and lost all my content. I won't be giving them my money anymore. They emailed me to confirm that the account was cancelled and they were sorry that I wasn't happy with them holding my content hostage.
If I'm ever a (comedic) movie star one day, I'll name the company.
